This year has been flying by – it’s officially October and I am ready for anything soft and comfy.
October is when it finally gets chilly in the Nothern hemisphere and our thoughts turn to cozy sweaters and soft textures. Bright and light fabrics and decor just don’t do it for us anymore. We are called by the chunky crochet blankets, long scarves, and steaming cups of hot chocolate.
This is the time when we start switching things around in our homes, putting away the Summer items, and bringing out all the wonderful cozy things that we love for the Fall and Winter season. Greens, bright blues, and stripes give way to oranges, browns, and muted tones. Thin summer afghans get swapped for the chunky crocheted blankets and knitted throws. Sunny cotton pillows go into storage and out come cozy textured pillows and knitted pumpkins.
This change is not only on my mind. Recently, my favorite house shopping site, Redfin.com, reached to me to contribute to their blog post on ways of taking your home from summer to fall decor.
