Oh, hello there, Encinitas Crochet Cotton Afghan!
Aqua and white stripes are just as much summer to me as a straw hat and beach ball. Beach is where I love hanging out every chance I get and a perfect beach blanket is a must-have, donβt you think?

When I was growing up I spent so much time in the water, Iβm surprised I didnβt grow a mermaid tail. Actually, secretly, I think I was a mermaid in my previous life!
But back to the striped beach blanket. I wanted to make a light, fresh and crisp design that was easy on the eye, snap to bring along and super useful. When I was thinking up the ideas for this design, my fam and I were spending a lovely time is beach town of Encinitas.
Encinitas is a sweet little town along the California coast, with amazing spiritual shops, delicious food and gorgeous beaches.
So, when I designed this cute throw, I named it Encinitas Crochet Cotton Afghan.

This classic crochet beach blanket will take you right back to your time by the beach: clear water, fresh breeze and the soothing sound of waves. This color combo alone will make you feel relaxed and ready for fun in the sun.
And the best part? This cotton-blend blanket can also double as a beach mat and a wrap!
No time to go to the beach? You can use it as an amazing addition to any living room or bedroom. You can drape it over your bed for this nice layering effect and a pop of color.

To make this blanket really useful, I used a cotton blend yarn so that you have softness and resilience of the synthetic fiber in addition to the cool of the cotton fiber.
The yarn that I used for the Encinitas Crochet Cotton Afghan is Caron Cotton Cakes in White and Aqua Breeze and they were a perfect match.
And, to make working on this blanket a relaxing fun as well, I used a classic stitch to make it. It’s DC Double Crochet stitch all the way, no stress, not stitch markers needed, just chill and crochet.
This cotton afghan would be totally perfect to take the beach. It can be used as a beach mat, to throw on the sand and get some tan. If it gets chilly, you can you can use it as a wrap and throw it around your shoulders. You can even use it as towel to dry yourself off!

At the beach, or at home, layered over your bed comforter, on the couch or over the back of an armchair, Encinitas Crochet Cotton Afghan will bring a smile to your face with its fresh colors and a reminder of the fun in the sun.
